...is a cafe & bakery on the Arcata Plaza serving classical European style pastries and casual bistro fare. We make all our baked goods on the premises; we focus on creative interpretations of classic pastries & cakes, always preparing everything from basic ingredients and fresh fruits. Bistro style is warm & inviting, traditional dishes brought to a high level of excellence and presented with casual flair.

All of our ingredients are chosen with the greatest care and are the finest available. Our produce is predominantly local, depending on seasonal availability, and always organic. We feature Cypress Grove Chevre from our local world-famous cheese maker, and Niman Ranch Hams: uncured, apple wood smoked, from a network of over 600 farms that practice small scale sustainable and humane animal husbandry. Our pastries are made with 100% pure organic European-style butter from Straus Family Creamery in Point Reyes. All other dairy products are from Humboldt Creamery; all the milk in our coffee drinks is organic. All of our coffee is organic. All of our chicken is Mary's Chickens from Pitman Family Farm in Sanger, California. Our beef and lamb are exclusively Humboldt County grass raised.

Simple food excellently prepared heightens our enjoyment of the meal, the company and our surroundings. An understanding of where our food comes from shows that how we eat affects the world we live in. We believe our approach brings you food that is more delicious and authentic, with respect for the large ecosystem that is our earth, as well as the smaller ecosystem that is your body.
